Im so excited, I met Patty Duke last night. I went to a conference hosted by NAMI, it was very exciting and so inspirational. She spoke about her mental illness and had an open discussion forum.
Found out her mother was "blackmailed" into giving her guardianship to her Managers. Trying to fathom that one. There are times I think "Man Dawson is just killing me" but to give him up at 6!!? Times were so different then.

Dating? when to start?
Statistics state that if a teen starts to date prior to age 16 there is a higher % possibility that they will become sexually active sooner.
I personally have chosen to heed this advice and my daughter was not allowed to date till she turned 16. Her first REAL date was to homecoming, she had fun.
It is a requirement in our house that GROUP dating is the norm till they turn 17, I think this gives her a better chance to learn the skills necessary to have healthy relationships. She has said in the past that she wished she could have dated earlier but I stuck to my principles and feel good about it. I'm very lucky I have a great teenager.
